Cool moms and dads do their darndest to
Accept their kids for who they are, even if they stop taking naps before age two, or want to dye their hair pink when they’re fifteen
Be kind to them, even when they drop a spoon on the floor ten thousand times from their highchair, or their bedroom door can't be opened due to piles of dirty laundry on the other side
Listen to them, listen to them, listen to them
Enjoy doing stuff with them, because cool parents like their kids as well as love them
Support their interests, which might mean reading Bears on Wheels or playing Smash Brothers Melee three hundred million times
Allow them to grow up, even if that means they make life choices mom and dad don't always agree with
Be themselves; Cool parents don’t need to act like thirteen-year-olds to be cool--they know their kids would see through that anyway
Lead by example; like this guy said: “My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it"
Please note: Cool parents are not perfect (they and their kids are, of course, irreversibly human), but that doesn't keep them from trying!
